Want to Teach a class or initiate an event, lab, etc?
Wonderful! Hi. I am Karl, your servant and coordinator of events. That means that I just help in the negotiating of space. Y’all do the events. I'll probably doa few myself, but really this is a group project. So, our priority for events at camp is promoting space for contact practice. We will also be hosting other events, especially ones that spin off from or strongly inform contact work. Contact practice is our core, however. Some of our events will be prescheduled and put into the WhatWhereWhen, which is the printed schedule of Burning Man events that were planned by early July. At least half of what we offer will, however, be scheduled once we get there, so that we can really have space to see where the juice is amongst the 60 or so of us there and not be bound into a schedule designed before we actually meet each other. First, fundamentals classes… if you are an experienced contact teacher and want to teach or co-teach a fundamentals class, let me know at karlfrost@hotmail.com. I will take names before we get there, then we get to the playa, we will decide who is going to head up which classes… we will be offering at least 14 fundamentals classes over the course of the week, so lots of space to offer what you know. Other classes or events, including special focus contact classes, labs, classes in related arts (yoga, martial arts, butoh, music, whatever), special jams, performances, etc… let me know and also sign up on tribe.net and post about it to the burningcontact tribe to get the word out and start discussions. Some of these may go in the whatwherewhen, others will be left for when we get there to figure out schedule. We may do a bit more prescheduling this year since we will have more space to work in. I would also be delighted if anyone wanted to try something peculiar like "late night contact classes" or if anyone wanted to do morning meditation or contemplative movement or yoga or whatever. The burningcontact tribe is partially set up as a means of networking pre-burn about events that you would like to see happen.
