post festival backpacking trip

I'm excited to be adding this possibilty this year!

The Sierra Contact Festival is in the middle of Tahoe National Forest which has some wonderful wilderness backpacking and camping possibilities!

The trip would be informal and everyone would have to be independently organized either with their own car or carpooling with someone, as well as take care of your own food and gear. I would expect something like a 5 to 9 mile hike into some alpine lake for making abase camp and then a day or two of dayhiking from there. Of course, with the spirit of independent organization, you could come for a day or two and make it a long day trip or you could hang out afterward and stay on your own.

I often lead wilderness trips for dancers via the Dancing Wilderness Project, but i envision this trip as something less formal. I won't be charging anything for it, but everyone would need to be self-organizing. i might facilitate some coordination so we can do some dancing together, but just minimally.

If you are interested in exploring some of the alpine lake areas of Tahoe National Forest or Lake Tahoe after Sierra, write to info@bodyresearch.org.

Make sure to say how long you would be available to go for, if you have your own car or not, and how much backpacking/camping experience you have. The one thing that i ask is that if you little or no backpacking experience that you hook up with someone who does who can act as a "mentor" as it were. We'll see what sort of critical mass has developed as we get closer to see if it is a "go".
