Yuba LifeArt Project --  Finances

We want to live a life that is socially, environmentally and economically sustainable.

As such, given that we are choosing to spend this time in creative process and personal investigation, we want to create a way in which we can offer an exchange so that it makes sense for others to support us in that project.  Government grants might be one way to go, but I find it more philosphically reasonable (and perhaps more coherent with long term vision of localization) to think about how we can do more direct exchange... offer something through the project that people will value enough to support energetically and materially (which in its simplest form means financially, but should not be meant to exclude other means, where sensible).

Thus the Events... weekend gatherings where people come and pay to participate in the world that we structure and spend our energy creating.  We offer something and are supported in return.   We offer workshop, performance, ritual and other frames of participation, both formal and informal.  Other forms of exchange might include classes for locals who want to make the trek out to the river, stage performance work over at the local community hall.

Money coming in from the Events will go to cover food and other direct expenses for Core and Crew, and after that is covered, would go to the Core, who are committing to be out there for the duration and who are putting in the bulk of the prep work for the project.

Accessibility is a key value, so sliding scale will be made to be accessible and non-money exchanges will be creatively explored as possibilities while holding to the idea that we do want to really be supported in the project.

In terms of giving back, I also think of giving back to the land and think to have some fraction of the money coming in from the events go towards some local non-profit devoted to preserving the S Fork Yuba.
