The Retreat Gatherings

The retreats will be places to take the work further in a laboratory setting and to network with others from other cities who have been exploring the material.

The retreat gatherings will be residential for 3 to 5 days and would be open to those who were able to attend one of the workshops. As each of the workshops would have a somewhat different trajectory of material, it would give a very interesting way to look at and lab the Human Contact material. The Retreat gatherings will be priced very affordably. I imagine them to be a mixture of structured jams, discussion and labs around material from the various workshops, mostly initiated by participants, and taking the poetics material into performance studies. I will be there to facilitate discussions, be a resource, and to hold focus, but I mostly want the Retreat to be an opportunity for people to take ownership of the material for themselves and for me to be a participant as others in exploring the material.

Cost: $100-$200 sliding scale (includes hot springs fees, but not food)

arrive anytime Friday and stay through Monday evening. Officially opens Friday evening and closes Monday evening. We will meet together once per day to determine our evolving schedule of activities. tentative schedule, that we can evolve as we go is as follows

This schedule will flex with who is there and what we decide together, but serves as a starting place for conversation. Some times we will all meet together, and, perhaps in others, some will choose to work in small groups or to take time off to enjoy the springs.

We can either sleep in the dance space or camp. If you want to rent a room, contact Sierra Hot Springs. For food, there is a restaurant at the hot springs open for breakfast Sat/Sun and dinner Fri/Sat. There is also a group kitchen and fridge for preparing and storing food that you bring.

This lab is open to people who have done a Human Contact Project workshop or similar work in the past year with Karl.
